AI portfolio preparation for Korean science and gifted schools: build inquiry evidence before presentation

Short answer: CIT teaches students preparing for Korean science high schools (과학고·과고) and gifted schools (영재학교·영재고) to turn their own questions into Python, data and AI tests, compare a non-AI baseline, and keep dated evidence they can explain. There is no universal AI portfolio required by all schools. The current official rules for the exact school, route and admissions year come first; CIT does not promise that a project may be submitted or that it will produce admission.

TWO DISTINCT STUDENT ROUTES

International-school academics and EC remain the first route

CIT keeps these goals separate. International-school students protect AP, IB and IGCSE academics and assessment rules first. Science and gifted-school students begin with the exact school's current admissions rules and build inquiry skills without assuming a universal submission.

“You need a portfolio” is not a sufficient rule

Submission rules, inquiry learning and evidence design are different questions. Separating them prevents inflated admissions claims.

Is it universally required?

No. There is no single “science or gifted-school AI portfolio” format shared by every school. Records, statements, recommendations, problem-solving assessments and permitted evidence differ by school and route.

02 · LEARNING

Why do an inquiry project?

To learn how to investigate. Narrowing a question, testing against a baseline and correcting a failed hypothesis applies mathematics, science and computing to a real problem.

03 · EVIDENCE

What should remain?

Explainable records come before a polished site. Keep data provenance, code changes, test tables, failure reasons, student ownership and the limits of AI or mentor support with dates.

OFFICIAL 2027 EXAMPLES

Each school and route publishes different evidence rules

KSA's published 2027 general route describes student-record review and staged assessments; its separate Jang Yeong-sil route includes long-term, self-initiated inquiry with evidence in a specific recommendation criterion. Neither example may be generalized to every school.

Do not begin with the most complex predictor. Start from the discomfort, test whether temperature alone explains it, identify bias in time and sensor placement, then add only the variables the evidence justifies.

When CIT may fit—and requests CIT will not accept

A student may need guided inquiry, independent study or more foundations first. The initial review distinguishes these cases.

CIT may fit students who want to

  • test a mathematics or science observation with data and code;
  • learn foundations instead of copying a difficult model;
  • strengthen an existing project's data, comparisons and explanation;
  • build long-term inquiry skills regardless of submission permission.

CIT does not accept requests to

  • finish code or a report the student cannot understand;
  • present outside activity as school or assessed work;
  • submit material the target school does not allow;
  • guarantee a project, interview, award or admission result.

CHOOSING AN ACADEMY

Compare the evidence a student creates, not the academy label

Some students benefit from paid instruction and others can investigate independently. Before enrolling, ask how the program handles the exact official rules and request an anonymized example of its learning record.

Does it check official rules first?
Separate the project's learning purpose from whether the exact school, route and year permits submission.
Does it begin with the student's question?
Narrow the student's observation rather than assigning a fashionable topic.
Does it record baselines and data rights?
Compare a simple method first and document data provenance, permission and bias.

One continuous evidence record from diagnosis to explanation

CIT first reviews the student's mathematics and science interests, coding level, school calendar and possible application timing. The student then learns the Python, data analysis and AI needed for the question and appends each test to the same evidence record.

Lessons are available onsite in Apgujeong and online across South Korea and overseas, one-to-one or in a small group. Scope and duration are set after diagnosis.

Science and gifted-school AI portfolio questions

Is an AI portfolio required for every science or gifted-school application?

No. There is no universal required AI portfolio shared by all Korean science high schools and gifted schools. Check the official rules and FAQs for the exact school, route and admissions year. CIT teaches inquiry records but does not promise submission permission or admission.

Are the planned KAIST and GIST AI gifted schools part of the 30-school count?

No. Official institution materials show development activity for the KAIST-affiliated Chungbuk AI·BIO Gifted School and GIST-affiliated AI Gifted School, but this guide keeps both outside the 22 + 8 count. Until an official student admissions guide is confirmed, they are not presented as current schools or 2027 application targets.

Can the project be used in a personal statement or application?

First confirm whether the school accepts a statement, outside activity or supporting evidence for that route and year. If permitted, disclose the student's real role, AI and mentor help, data provenance and limits. Never assume submission permission in advance.

Why build an AI project if it may not be submitted?

To learn how to narrow a question, collect permitted data, compare a baseline, correct errors and explain a result and its limits. That inquiry skill remains valuable even when the target school does not accept the project as evidence.

Can a student new to coding begin?

Yes, when the scope matches the student's foundations. Begin with the question, spreadsheets or visualization, simple Python and a baseline—not a difficult model. The student must be able to explain every code and AI output used in the final work.

How should families compare AI portfolio academies?

Ask whether the academy checks current official rules, begins with the student's question, records a non-AI baseline and data rights, separates student, AI and mentor roles, and requires the student to explain failures and limitations. Avoid guarantees of projects, awards or admission.

Who may consider CIT for this preparation?

CIT may be considered by students who want to learn foundations and keep a student-owned, explainable evidence record while checking the exact official rules. It is not suitable for requests to ghostwrite, submit disallowed material or guarantee admission.

Can students outside Seoul or overseas learn online?
