Was AP CSA Inheritance dropped from the exam scope?

Correct. With the College Board's 2025-26 overhaul, Inheritanceand Polymorphismwere removed from the AP CSA required exam scope. The reason this change matters is clear.

  1. Existing textbooks (older editions of Barron's, Princeton Review) and many online lectures still treat inheritance and polymorphism as core topics.
  2. If you prepared through 2024 or attend an academy based on the old curriculum, you may be wasting time.
  3. Conversely, if you're not familiar with the new scope — File I/O and dataset processing — you'll run into unfamiliar problems on the actual exam.

CIT updated its curriculum immediately at the end of 2025, and newly enrolled students learn based on the 2025-26 framework from the start.

How do I prepare for the digital AP CSA exam?

From May 2026, the AP CSA exam is administered fully digitally through the College Board Bluebook app. The FRQ (free-response code-writing) answers you used to write on paper must now be typed directly on screen. We've laid out the prep steps in numbered order.

  1. Adapting to the Bluebook app environment — Install the official College Board app and get comfortable with the flow of writing Java code on screen. It requires different muscle memory than writing by hand.
  2. Learning the new framework — Focus on File I/O, the Scanner class, file reading/writing, and dataset processing logic. This connects with advanced work on arrays and ArrayList.
  3. Repeating mock exams in a digital environment — You need to solve on a digital screen, not paper mocks, to adapt to the real thing. CIT's ExamPrep platform provides mock exams that reflect the digital exam environment.
  4. Training FRQ typing speed — Students who type more slowly than they write by hand or find entering Java syntax awkward need separate training.

Where do international-school students in Korea take the AP CSA exam?
