Shorter 1:1 core hours + online self-learning option
The starting estimate should use the core path only. Repeated review and retention practice can move into mobile AI-assisted Mistake Notes and Memory Notes, so 1:1 time stays focused on reasoning, implementation, and feedback.
USAAIO 16h format core assumes the shared AI core is complete
Students who have already covered Python, classical ML, PyTorch, CV, NLP, and notebook-based AI work can start from U0/U1. Students starting fresh add the shared AI core first, and any confirmed prior course or project experience is discounted after the level test and consultation.
Move repetition out of 1:1 time, keep mentoring focused
Mistake Notes organize missed concepts and reattempts. Memory Notes keep high-decay formulas, definitions, and notebook patterns in a short recurring loop.
The total learning load is not removed; repeated review is moved into structured mobile self-learning so live mentoring can focus on higher-value corrections.
| Module | Core topics | Total volume |
|---|---|---|
| Core shared base | ||
| F1 Foundations I | NumPy/Pandas/scikit-learn — regression, classification, clustering | ~20 hrs |
| F2 Foundations II | PyTorch — MLP and a mini transformer, built from scratch | ~28 hrs |
| A1 Computer Vision | CNN to diffusion — classify, detect, segment, generate | ~20 hrs |
| A2 NLP & Audio | BERT, LLM APIs, Whisper — text and audio end-to-end | ~20 hrs |
| USAAIO format core | ||
| U0 Eligibility + registration | Citizenship/visa check, portal/account/proctor-site setup | ~4 hrs |
| U1 Math + Colab boost | By-hand math derivations + standardized Colab markdown answers | ~20 hrs |
| Optional add-ons after target is clear | ||
| U2 Round 1 Mock Bootcamp | 3-hour / CPU-only format — stamina, speed, accuracy, error log | +~20 hrs |
| U3 Round 2 Bootcamp | MIT / GPU L4 env — Transformers, NLP, CV, generative practice | +~26 hrs |
| U4 Camp prep | Team USA selection simulation + IOAI/IAIO finals exposure | +~20 hrs |
Timeline by starting point
Lower weekly load and more time for public project evidence.
Build the shared base, then learn notebook answer discipline.
Compressed preparation; target choice matters earlier.
Early-start advantage
※ Shortened card hours are examples with mobile online self-learning. Table hours show total learning volume and vary ±30–50% per student. The USAAIO format core assumes the shared AI/Python/PyTorch base is complete. Starting fresh adds the shared core first; confirmed prior courses or projects are discounted after consultation. The optional-add-on card's 1:1 +44-48 hrs is the shortened 1:1 estimate when U2-U4's full +66h volume is all selected.
